I actually did end up going to one of my friend's bible studies.

I had run out of excuses and I guess I felt guilty, so I just scooped up the boys and walked the one block to her house. And I'm glad I did.

I haven't been going to church lately. I can't decide if I'm staying away in protest of the new Pope's policies or because I'm lazy. I do have issues with the Pope. More accurately, I have issues with the church. More and more of us support the ordination of women and married men and a few of us don't like the church's position on gays. They had the perfect opportunity to acknowledge that times are changing and to get with the program and they blew it. They could have elected a progressive candidate but essentially flipped the bird to those of us who held out for positive changes.

On the other hand, I did have other stuff going on. My parents were here.

I kind of didn't want them to leave. At some point during all of these visits, I always get a little stressed out and become bitchy and pissy for a day or two, but then I get weepy and sad. Happens every time.

So, anyway, I wasn't going to church and I felt guilty and sort of needed a few sympathetic ears. One of my friends was there and she shared that she had just found out that she's expecting her fourth child. Another one of the moms was attempting to wean her toddler and was kind of hormonal. Even though I didn't get to indulge the party in my own personal whatever, I just felt good being around people who shared my own concerns.

I hate DSL. I hate DSL with the searing red-hot passion of a thousand suns. Do you know how long its taken me to upload this entry? Grrrr.

I have a new car.

Not many of my friends have their own cars. So I was blessed just to own a car at all. It was getting kind of difficult to fit all three kids in my car, but I didn't want to say anything since I was really happy with what I had. But we spotted a relatively new, clean-looking and scandalously cheap van in the lot at the Tony place. Ryan did some reading overnight and we went back on Sunday and picked it up. It's a 2000 Pontiac Montana. Power everything and in incredibly great shape. And, of course, the all-important passenger-side sliding door.

in the ear: "Until the End" by Dimbodius

I'm working with the Department of Education to try and enroll Zac in the special ed preschool at an elementary school. They're sort of testing him out; evaluating him to see if he really needs extra help. The process could take about a month. I should know something by the time the new year starts.
