sports suck

Terrific. And people wonder why Americans have such whacked-out priorities. They're letting criminals play college football now. That's great.

Oh, but there are conditions. He has to get good grades. Isn't he supposed to get good grades anyway? Isn't that, like, the whole idea of college? This is what pisses me off about college athletics in general. A normal kid off the street studying economics or something has a bad semster, he's gone. One of these overgrown toddlers commits a crime, he's given a key back into school on a silver platter.

. So now we have coke-addicted wife-beating millionaire psychopaths in the pros and small-time crooks in colleges. Maybe before he graduates, he'll enroll in Getting Caught With An Uzi 101 so he'll have something to do later.

I don't think colleges should even HAVE sports. It was OK at one time --back in the early 1900s -it served as a morale-boosting diversion. But now, every school is EXPECTED to have a sports program and not JUST a sports program --but a program that provides opportunities for ALL students no matter how athletic or interested they are. And don't forget the requirement to provide equal opportunity for both sexes. And no discussion on college sports would be complete without mentioning the generations of welfare babies who feel sports will get them through college, grades be damned. College sports has grown into a gigantic tangle of bureacracy and conflucting interests. I say make life better for everyone and BAN sports altogether!
